10 pieces, selected from 117 entries, will be showcased in the 20-month exhibit.
As yet one more indicator that the arts scene continues to thrive and grow in Marion County, the city of Ocala recently announced the 10 sculptors and works that will be showcased in the 2018-2019 Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition.
The competition received 117 entries from across the United States and Canada. A jury of community and arts organization representatives selected the 10 sculptures for the competition.
The 20-month exhibit will be staged throughout Tuscawilla Park as well as in the Tuscawilla Art Park, which is on the west side of the 50+-acre main park, just east of the Ocala Union Station arts hub.
Organizers are excited about the variety of mediums included in the works this year, and also about a revamped unveiling event.

It is my mission to answer the lifelong quest about how to close the gap between art and life.
Therefore, I allow myself to use all aspects of human potential providing profound impact on our contemporary culture. Since my very early days in life – from the time I began to reflect on and develop art – it became apparent that my desire to build this significant bridge between art and life will be a never-ending journey.
One outstanding found during this adventure with all its setbacks and victories was to realize all difficulties between human beings are rooted in the UNSAID. It is crucial to recognize it as THE limiting factor for connecting the world of art to the struggles of our daily lives.
To develop a language for the inexpressible is my duty and desire.
My purpose is to create and connect through the expression of meaningful, important and life changing moments through my art.
The base of my work is the art process itself: the method of operation. It may begin with a striking observation of behaviour, a supervision of meaningful changes, perhaps meeting a feeling or a character. It then leads to a journey to new, open spaces.
As bridges consist out of different parts, material and technologies my constructural art system grows out of varied approaches, working materials and techniques creating figurative sculptures, realistic, surrealistic and abstract etchings, paintings, drawings. Additonally I develop empowering-workshops to create a continuous flow of human impulses to overcome limitations.
The context of my work and how it is developed has an impact on the relationship to the viewer. I constantly work to cross bridges between ideas, working material, divers techniques and medias, process and artwork, creator and viewer, the wing-span amongst performing and truth, aesthetic and powerful expression. I treasure these boundaries for providing great power to the flow of the river of creativity connecting state of minds and lives.
My current work “Turning Point” is about the moment of implementing profound decisions between changing eras. Letting go, also reaching for the stars, right in the mid of the twist. Taking action. The sculpture, a life size female in sand stone, worked only by chisel and hammer is accompanied by surrealistic and realistic etchings and paintings as fellow seekers fertilizing and developing more aspects to the subject such as feeling, fear, trusting – as a set of decisions to move forward as life does – in its natural way. This sand stone was one of many grand fence posts once used for fencing an area that is now growing to
find its new nature. All paintings and etchings are inspired by this place of mystery.
Aesthetic, honesty and truth are important values to carry the vocabulary of the human body and mind while crossing the bridge. Viewers can easily relate to my work and may also find themselves represented in the snapshots of my art. My work invites to contemplate, to realize solidarity and connectivity.
Always looking for new opportunities, materials, topics and contexts to invite the observer to liaise to my work as well as to what it creates for the eye and mind of the beholder as well as to open up to new and unexplored territories.
